As we begin a new year many of us reflect cleaning both in our external( physical)and internal (spiritual) homes. Cleaning clutter always takes a toll because of the emotional attachment that is so easily attributed to things that hold memories for us. Sometimes it is easy to release items and memories from our collection once their usefulness is complete, and other times it’s a traumatic. How can we ease this process so that the clutter doesn’t control our lives?
Perhaps looking for the rightful owner of the items here and now, we can find a useful home for things that currently are taking up precious space. A few years ago a friend of mine moved home to Switzerland, and he had to dispense of many items in his existing household. He was determined to find a home for his treasure because he literally could not take them with his as he relocated.
He would ask the following questions to friends and co-workers. Does this item belong to you? He was not inquiring as to whether or not a person lost or misplaced this item, whether it had a purpose in their current life. If it did he would give the item to the person. And to this day I remember the generosity when I use the item that he had given to me. The scent of the flower truly says on the hand of the giver. Why not ask yourself what items you currently own that can be gifted to someone else for immediate use. Are you hanging on to seldom worn clothing, used books, holiday items, furniture, or children’s playthings? Make a point of weekly find a home for some of these things So that you can release the blocked energy in your life. You will feel better for the breathing space that you create in both your outer and inner world. Then take the smell of the flowers!!!!
